Say WHAT?!

The past two weeks have been almost overwhelmingly busy so I didn't get to update the blog. Oops! Anyways, life is good but crazy (and getting crazier by the second). Here's all the stuff we've been up to:

Week 33
  • Spencer's family was in town for July 4th, Spencer-birthday, baby shower festivities. It was basically nonstop craziness but we had a good time. I got to go to Stadium of Fire for the first time and fireworks + David Archuletta + Brad Paisley = awesomeness.
  • Speaking of baby shower, it was PHENOMENAL. DeRue recruited a ton of minions (AKA friends and family) to help with all the food and decorating. They did a wonderful job and I felt really loved. It was so great to see a lot of my Provo friends in one place!
  • I still kicked it at IMC for a few days and am glad to report that I. LOVE. MY. INTERNSHIP. still. That's a great sign, right?
  • Apparently, Spencer is still loving his job. I wouldn't really know... since I've been falling asleep at around 10 every night and he doesn't usually get home until 9. Poor guy... it'll be great when we can spend time together again!
  • We got a video camera! That way we can make cute videos of our baby and spice this blog up a bit. Now all I have to do is learn how to format this thing so it's not the same boring default background that the site chose for me when I first started this back in 2009... hmmm....
  • Um, braxton hicks contractions of death. I've cracked it up to working 10 and a half hour shifts without enough hydration but last week I was afraid I was going into preterm labor because my poor uterus NEVER stopped contracting. For about 2 days straight. It was crazy. But I knew it wasn't the real deal because it never "hurt," it was just awkward and annoying.
  • My internship supervisor is AMAZING. She helped me work out my schedule so that I'll work a few Saturdays and be able to finish two weeks before my due date instead of 4 days. HALLELUJAH! A huge burden has been lifted off my shoulders :)
  • Here's me last week:

Week 34
  • Spencer finally got a calling! He's an EQ teacher... which is exactly the same calling he had in our last ward but he LOVES it. I got visiting teaching assignments but a specific calling is still MIA. Sad.
  • My friend Mallory had her baby! Mallory was induced Sunday morning and pushed for about 40 minutes before Sawyer got here. He was 7 pounds 4 ounces. Spencer and I went to visit their cute little family at the hospital the next night and holy moly, that baby is BEAUTIFUL. I really want mine now (but fully cooked, of course). Except for a day at the anti-jaundice spa, parents and baby are doing just fine.
  • Um, Harry Potter. Midnight Premiere. Need I say more?
  • Spencer and I went to a birthing class and are learned a ton about how to get ready for our hospital visit and life with Colton afterward. Now I just have to remember everything we heard in six hours....
  • BOTH of the toilets in our little townhouse now have broken chains so the flusher doesn't work. That means you lift the top of the toilet tank completely off after EVERY use, plunge your hand into the ice cold water, and manually lift up and hold the plug so the toilet will flush. And I'm pregnant... so that happens about 24 times a day... and all through the night. HOW FUN!
  • A married man with children told me this little gem at IMC a few days ago: "You look like you're about ready to pop. In fact, you look like my dog. She just had a litter of seven puppies and she was ALMOST as big as you are." I kid you not. I could have punched him in the face.
  • Speaking of tactless comments, it has become an ongoing joke with my supervisor and the other SLPs at IMC that we have to figure extra time into our schedule to allow for the inevitable onslaught of comments that I receive CONSTANTLY from my patients, their friends and family members, and complete strangers about my massive midsection. Most people just ask if I'm lost and need to find the Women's Center but I've now had two people ask me if I needed them to fetch a wheelchair for me. Seriously?! I work here (thus the name badge, clipboard, and fancy clothes). I'm walking the stairs. I don't waddle. I'm smiling. AND I STILL HAVE A MONTH AND A HALF. Do I really look that uncomfortable? You'd think I was moaning and groaning down the hallways of the hospital whilst clutching my belly and shuffling my cankles. I still go to Zumba, people. I'm doing okay. *And now my vent is over, I promise.*
  • I had a doctor's appointment and he said that I'm right on track and everything looks perfect: baby is head down, weight gain is excellent (26 pounds!), I have a positive blood type, ideal blood pressure, no gestational diabetes, and thus NO COMPLAINTS! Whew :)
  • Here's me this morning in the midst of my Harry Potter Hangover (I slept in until 11:00. Holy Moses.):

That's all for now! Till next time...
